The Proposed Development

In December 2014, Signature Land and City National Bank of Florida (Miami / Chile) submitted a request for rezoning of 395 acres of Agricultural property along Boney Road (Jacksonville, Florida) into a Planned Unit Development consisting of 788 units under the guise that this meets the guidelines of "Rural Residential" housing.

The Conflict

The proposed land is designated Rural Residential by the City of Jacksonville's own 2030 Comprehensive Plan and is not in the citys 2030 Development Area.  In fact, the proposed development is surrounded on three sides with protected conservation lands and delicate wetlands along the eastern border.

The Community
This particular area of norteast Florida has remained undeveloped despite upbuild elsewhere in Jacksonville.  Many family homesteads have been in this neighborhood for 70 to 100 years, some since the Civil War.  Without proper infrastructure in the place, such a boom in growth puts families, environment and wildlife in jeopardy.
